"Covering approximately 6,327 square kilometres in the geographic centre of Alberta, the County of Athabasca is rich in history and natural beauty.

"The County features an abundance of lakes and rivers, along with many scenic hiking and cross-country ski trails. There are also eleven hamlets within the County, including Atmore, Breynat, Caslan, Colinton, Donatville, Ellscott Grassland, Meanook, Perryvale, Rochester and Wandering River. Maintaining the infrastructure in these hamlets and throughout the municipality includes ensuring the safe operation of a variety of facilities, water and sewer systems, and 2,425 kilometres of roads.

"The valuable services available to residents, industry, businesses and tourists in the area are the culmination of the hard work and dedication of the Councillors, staff and volunteers that have served the County over the years. Indeed, these men and women embody the community spirit that characterizes the municipality."
