Member At Large – Old Brick School Steering Committee

Athabasca County is welcoming applications from interested community members to serve as a ‘Member at Large’ on the Old Brick School Project Steering Committee.

The Committee will assist in formulating the proposed use recommendations to the Tourism and Economic and Development Committee and the Joint Councils – Town of Athabasca and Athabasca County.

Committee members will also oversee the Use Study and Planning, Design and Engineering as it proceeds through a phased design process. The committee may meet up to twice a month for approximately two hours and will be in place up to two years or until the completion of the project at the discretion of the Joint Councils.

About the Planning and Design Study

The Planning and Design Study will address the potential new recreational, cultural and municipal uses for the building and include a use study, site planning for the building complex, planning and design for the architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural elements. It will also provide upgraded designs to meet the new building code requirements, energy efficiency, fire and life safety code and accessibility requirements.

The final result of this study will be a complete tender package of specifications and drawings that will provide a bridge to the next stage of identifying a contractor and proceeding to construction.
