NOTICE – New Home Buyer Protection Act

On February 1, 2014 the New Home Buyer Protection Act will be enacted by the Government of Alberta making new home warranties a requirement of developments right across the province. The Act helps to ensure high building standards are met by contractors and private builders constructing homes in Alberta.

Showing proof of the warrant is now part of the required information before beginning the permit process for setting up your mobile home, modular home or beginning on-site construction within the Athabasca County.

Substantial reconstruction or renovations of existing residences also fall under this new provincial legislation.

For detailed information about what types of homes are covered, authorized home warranty providers, Home Warranty Standards and more, visit the New Home Buyer Protection Act page on the Alberta Municipal Affairs website
