Athabasca Visitor Information Centre

An exciting summer opportunity is available at the Visitor Information Centre (VIC) in downtown Athabasca. Here is your chance to learn about many of the great attractions and adventures we offer in our region, to develop skills that will benefit you for any future position or career, and to connect with people from across the province and beyond.

We are seeking an individual that is personable, customer service oriented, proactive, and passionate about promoting Athabasca and area. Excellent interpersonal, communication, sales and promotional skills are required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide exceptional customer service;
  • Promote regional attractions and destinations;
  • Encourage visitors to do more and extend their stay in the
  • Athabasca region;
  • Distribute information and sell promotional materials and travel essentials;
  • Complete administrative tasks such as preparing reports and collecting and entering visitor statistics;
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

All candidates must have at least one year of customer service experience. Preference will be given to candidates with some post-secondary education in tourism, hospitality and/or a related field.

Computer skills, including Internet research, email, and word processing are required.

Knowledge of Athabasca, Northern Alberta, and tourism destinations are considered assets. Equivalencies will be considered.

The wage for this position is $14/hour for 37.5 hours per week Thursday to Monday.
