We are proud to have Elaine Froese join us for the conference this year!

She is a professional speaker, writer, and coach who specializes in helping farm families work through issues surrounding succession, business, and communication.

Folks are tired and overloaded. They think self-care is selfish. Too many roles and too little time. Where did the fun go?

Elaine is an active farm partner with off-farm demands, just like you. She’s experienced a serious health issue which makes her passionate and practical about being intentional, not “busy” and she shares her story and strategies for living a balanced life.

Aging with Purpose – Irene Fitzsimmons, Healthy Families, Healthy Futures – Ageism attitudes can lead to isolation and loneliness for older adults.  Finding ways to feel purposeful and engaged in community as we grow older enhances not only our lives but those around us.  Redefining expectations that ageing is not about decline but about growth can help our own district reflect what an age friendly community looks like.

Cancer Basics – The Changing Landscape – Keira MacKinnon, Cancer Control Alberta

Cancer is a word that holds a lot of power and causes a lot of fear.  This presentation will cover the basics of how cancer starts, risk factors, share the emerging trends, dispel the myths, how to be proactive, and where resources are to support patients and loved ones.

Honey Would You Mind Fetching Me the Remote

Written by Mary Olson, performed by Aggie Thompson and Cecil Lewis – Back by popular demand!  Local talent is showcased here in this session that will have you relate to life with the opposite sex.  It’s all in fun;   a spoof on the habits of men.

Athabasca River Basin

Janet R. Pomeroy took the helm at the Athabasca Watershed Council in May of 2018. The AWC’s goal is to fulfill the Water For Life strategy: safe, secure drinking water; healthy aquatic ecosystems;  reliable, quality water supplies for a sustainable economy.  Janet spent 18+ years co-managing a cow/calf operation in the County of Barrhead and firmly believes that agricultural producers can and should play a strong role in protecting and enhancing water sources in the Athabasca Watershed.
