Athabasca County is home to a number of recreational opportunities outside of our many campgrounds.

  • Boyle Fish Pond
    From Boyle: 4 km south on Hwy 831.
    Legal land description: SE 16-64-19-W4
    Amenities: birdwatching station, cookhouse shelter and outhouses.
  • Highway 63 Rest Stop
    From Boyle: 6 km west along Highway 63.
    Legal land description: SE 2-65-20-W4
    Amenities: cookhouse shelter and outhouses.
  • Tawatinaw Valley Birdwatching Station
    From Athabasca: South on Hwy 2 to Perryvale turnoff (Rge Rd 233). Head south from Perryvale on “Old Hwy” 7 km. Watch for signs on west side.

  • Amisk Estates Pelican Beach
    Located between Boyle and Caslan off Highway 663
    Legal land description: SW 10-65-18-W4
    Amenities: Boat launch and outhouses.
  • Blue Heron Estates
    From Boyle: North on Hwy 63 to Twp Rd 665. Stay on main road winding eastwards to Rge Rd 181 heading south to Blue Heron Estates.
    Legal land description: NE 14-66-18-W4
    Amenities: boat launch, playground, well, day use sites, cookhouse shelter and outhouses.
  • Golden Nodding Estates
    From Boyle: East on Hwy 663 to Rge Rd 174.6 heading north. Turn east on Twp Rd 653.7.
    Legal land description: NE 20-65-17-W4
    Amenities: boat launch and playground.
  • Crooked Lake
    From Athabasca: West on Hwy 2, continue north to Twp Rd 680.5 (becomes Twp Rd 682). Follow east to Rge Rd 235 heading north, continue to the end of the road where it meets the lake.

    Amenities: boat launch, day use site and outhouses.
  • North Buck Lake Narrows
    From Boyle: North on Hwy 63 to Twp Rd 665. Stay on main road winding eastwards to Rge Rd 181 heading south to Blue Heron Estates. Turn east on Twp Rd 664 and 3 km south on Rge Rd 180.

    Amenities: boat launch, birdwatching station, day use sites and outhouses.
  • Paradise Valley/Perch Cove
    From Boyle: North on Hwy 63 6 km to Skeleton Narrows Road (Twp Rd 654). Continue to the end of the road where it meets Skeleton Lake.
    Legal land description: SE 30-65-18-W4
    Amenities: boat launch and day use site.
  • Pickerel Point
    From Boyle: North on Hwy 63 6 km to Skeleton Narrows Road (Twp Rd 654) 32 km, then north on Rge Rd 191 to Rge Rd 185.5 heading south. Follow the signs.

    Amenities: boat launch, day use sites and outhouses.
  • Poplar Point
    From Athabasca: West on Hwy 2 to Twp Rd 670 (turn off for S.V. of Whispering Hills.) Turn north at Poplar Point estates and continue through to lake.
    Legal land description: SE 15-67-24-W4
    Amenities: boat launch and outhouses.
  • Harnaha Beach (Skeleton Lake Estates)
    From Boyle: North on Hwy 63 to Rge Rd 192.  Turn East on Twp Rd 653.  Continue into estate and follow the signs.
    Legal land description: NE 13-65-19-W4
    Amenities: boat launch, birdwatching station, day use site and outhouses.
  • White Gull
    From Athabasca: West on Hwy 2 to Twp Rd 672. Travel west to Twp Rd 242 heading south. Continue straight to lake.
    Legal land description: SW 11-67-24-W4
    Amenities: boat launch and wells.
